How To Do Tape In Hair Extensions

How To Do Tape In Hair Extensions

How To Do Tape In Hair Extensions – Hello long hair! Now I feel like a combination of Rapunzel/Barbie/Nicole Kidman (all in a good way) on Stepford Wives thanks to my new ribbon extensions. I have been doing this for the last eight months and I absolutely love the experience. Having more hair is fun to play with and style.

So why do I buy it? Honestly, mostly out of curiosity (I’ve been interested since high school!), but also because guys know me.

How To Do Tape In Hair Extensions

Weave extensions give my hair extra thickness, a bit of length (about an inch longer than my own hair) and a lighter blonde shade. My goal is not to completely change my look, just grow my hair naturally.

Tape Hair Extensions Deluxe Signature Range

I couldn’t be more excited about my Fourteenjay salon. In the 2+ years I’ve been there, I feel like my hair health has improved tremendously. I always find it relaxing to visit the salon – it’s such a relaxing environment and I always look forward to our appointments (big thumbs up :P)

It’s important to note that Fourteenjay is an Aveda salon and they specialize in color. I love Aveda hair products so this was a UGR bonus for me. I love knowing that every product I use on my hair is made with natural and organic ingredients.

Who do I see? Michelle did my highlights and prioritized the health of my hair from the start. Over the past two years, she has safely lightened the blonde and aggressively bleached my current shade, which could damage my hair. She was impressed with the blonde color and worked with Heather to determine what shade of hair to match!

Heather was my go-to girl for styling and now she does my extensions. My main hair goal for the past three years has been growing my length and I appreciate that Heather never tried to push me (as I have experienced at other salons.) Heather is the one who explained the extension process to me. and finally convinced me to try it. He was great at answering all my questions and explaining the details of costs and maintenance.

Aftercare For Tape In Extensions: Everything You Need To Know!

I have vomor tapes and I love them! It’s incredibly lightweight, low maintenance and I haven’t damaged my hair at all. Vomor is an Aveda salon-exclusive extension line that can only be ordered and applied by an authorized Aveda stylist. A few more facts about vomer expansion:

+ Vom extensions are made from only Remy hair, cut in pieces, harvested and produced by humans, and packaged according to environmental guidelines.

Each box contains 6 hair panels. Since Vomor extensions can only be purchased through a salon, your stylist will work with you to determine which shade of hair color will best complement your hair color. I used 12 panels in the last session, so two extension boxes. I love how Heather ordered a slightly different shade (I use Aveda 8N/10N & Aveda 12G). This was done to match my highlights and also to avoid looking too pale.

How are extensions built? It’s incredibly quick, easy and painless. The top of the extension is covered with medical grade adhesive tape that your stylist will place at the base of your hair. Heselim is literally like the stuff used in hospitals to cover wounds – really strong stuff. From the moment your extensions are attached to your hair, there will be NO PARTS. The only way to literally remove them from your head is if you rip out your extensions.

How Long Do Tape In Hair Extensions Last?

The removal process is also easy. A strip attached to the top of each extension sprays the tape with an instant melt solution so each panel can be safely removed from the hair. The panel is then washed, conditioned and then dried. Each extension was then reattached with a new strip of glue to be inserted into my washed, cut and blown hair.

All this happened for two hours at a time. If I get color at the same time, my appointment will take 4+ hours. For my extensions, I find in-salon maintenance really simple/uncomplicated (I usually bring my laptop to work), but it does require regular appointments every 6-8 weeks.

I found that I could use my extensions 3 times and go 7 business weeks between appointments. Remember, everyone’s salon visit will be different depending on how fast their hair grows and how they treat their extensions. As your natural hair grows, the extensions will grow with them, resulting in a gap between the roots of your hair and the extensions.

If your hair grows quickly, you can change your extensions more than someone with slower hair growth. Heat damages extensions just like normal hair, so if you blow/curl/straighten them every day, your extensions will improve faster and you can only use them once or twice.

How Many Tape In Extensions Do I Need?

There are many different factors that determine the cost of an extension. The price varies depending on the brand, the length of the extension (longer = more expensive), the salon, your stylist’s fees, and how many extensions you have. Here’s my salon breakdown:

So this is the cost of the actual extension box. You should also include the fees your stylist will pay for installing, removing, and reapplying the extensions (if you decide to use them more than once.) These fees all depend on how long it takes to do it. If you only have six extension panels and it takes 30 minutes to install/remove, your service cost will be lower than 12+ extension panels that take an hour or more to service.

Your first appointment will be the most expensive as you pay the actual extensions on top of the setup and styling fees. If you decide to reuse your extension in the final session, you can link the styles, rebuild, and run again.

If you are seriously considering getting extensions, I recommend calling your salon and setting up a consultation. That way, they can tell you the exact price and show you exactly what you’re investing in.

Review: Emma Power Tries Tape Hair Extensions

How often should I maintain and update extensions? I go every 6-8 weeks. It all depends on how fast your hair grows because the extensions will grow with your own hair.

Is it stretching due to hair loss? No, I actually have very thick hair. I’ve been curious to try extensions for years (thanks America’s Next Top Model!) I have to use a bunch of clip-ins when I put my hair down (it’s an easy way to add thickness), but I want to try something more permanent and natural.

Can I get long extensions if I have short hair? Of course. One of the main reasons people get extensions is to add length. If you’re equipped with a good stylist, they can blend in the extensions and make them look natural with short layers.

Have you noticed that your hair is falling out or your extensions are damaged? It’s not. Tape in extensions are the safest extensions you can get and will not damage your hair as long as you take good care of them and wash them gently at the roots.

Are Tape In Extensions Bad For Your Hair?

Can you feel the expansion? Are they harmful? When I run my fingers through the roots of my hair, I can feel the lengthening, but I don’t feel like I’m going about my daily life. The reason tape extensions are so popular is because they are 1) incredibly lightweight and 2) painless and literally just stick to your own hair. No braids, braids or beads, all of which can cause hair loss and discomfort on your scalp.

Can you wash and dry your hair like you normally would? Yes! The extensions are made from real human hair, so you wash them like you would. The only difference I find is that I’m gentler when I wash my scalp/roots. After I shower, I like to let it air dry about 75% before going through with a blow dryer + flat brush. Then I will curl my hair
