Why Does Smoke Detector Keep Going Off
If properly connected to the base plate, your alarm should display a green LED, with a red LED flashing every 30-45 seconds. If not, your alarm may not go off correctly. We recommend that you remove the alarm from the base plate and put it back on to stop the beeping. If this does not help, try the following steps.

If your alarms are connected wirelessly, try to “unlearn” the alarms and reset. If the alarm still sounds, remove the faulty alarm(s) and look for a replacement, or contact the customer support team if your alarms are still under warranty.
If your powered smoke or heat detector is false alarming, we recommend that you dust each alarm first to prevent any build-up of debris or insect netting from preventing the sensor from functioning properly. You can follow the steps in this guide here.
If your alarm continues to ring and connect wirelessly to other alarms in your home after cleaning and rewiring, “unlearn” each alarm and reset it. Wait until the alarm sounds again.
If your alarms are not wirelessly connected or the alarm continues to falsely sound after being unlearned and reset, remove the alarm that has a fast flashing red LED. If your alarms are wired, remove the suspect alarm and wait to see if the false alarm stops.
Signs That It’s Time To Replace A Smoke Detector
Request a replacement for the removed alarms or contact the customer support team if your alarms are still under warranty.
If your smoke or heat alarm is flashing a yellow LED, sometimes with a beep, it may be because your alarm is not attached to the base plate. If properly connected to the base plate, your alarm should display a green LED flashing regularly, and a red LED flashing every 45 seconds. If this is not the case, your alarm is not correctly set.
We recommend that you remove the alarm from the base plate and put it back on to stop the beeping. Test your alarm twice. If you hear a series of three beeps, your alarm is now securely attached to the base plate and should no longer be flashing yellow.
If the alarm does not sound or is still flashing amber and/or yellow, find a replacement alarm or contact the customer support team if your alarms are still under warranty.

But hearing a fire alarm go off in the middle of the night is not always an emergency. There are other reasons why you might hear your smoke alarm going off at 4am. Some of these are easy to fix; others may require a professional electrician to resolve.

A smoke detector is designed to alert you when the battery is low. If so, the battery puts out more power, which increases the resistance of the device, which is further increased by the drop in room temperature at night. So you hear the low battery beep. As your home begins to warm up in the morning, the noise may stop.
Stopping a smoke alarm from beeping is often simple. Get a ladder and carefully reach the alarm. Pressing the “Test/Silent” button on the front of the unit should stop it from beeping or chirping. If this does not work, grab the unit and turn it counterclockwise. It should come out of the base so you can open the battery compartment on the back. Remove and replace the battery to see if that caused the problem.
A wiring unit can be removed by loosening the alarm wire screws with a screwdriver (or by loosening the cable connector). Be careful not to touch the exposed copper ends of the low voltage wires. Then remove the battery. Hold the test button for 15 seconds before replacing the battery (make sure the positive and negative sides match the corresponding terminals). If the alarm is wired, reconnect the wiring and reinstall the unit.
Clean your smoke detector every six months. If the sensors are covered with dust, the smoke alarm may chirp. Dust can also interfere with the battery connection, causing the device to malfunction. You can wipe the alarm with a soft cloth. Compressed air is handy for cleaning dust in tight spaces, or you can use a vacuum cleaner and a soft brush to gently clean the unit.
Smoke alarms are designed to last for 10 years. Replace a unit if it has reached this point or if there are other indications that it is functioning properly. If you have a battery-powered unit, consider installing fixed alarms and backup batteries (in case of power outages). Look for new units with photoelectric and ionization sensors that effectively detect smoke and fire, and other features like CO detection, strobe light alarms, LED emergency lights, and vacuum sealed batteries.
