Best Board Books For 18 Month Old

Best Board Books For 18 Month Old – 21 Best Books for a Year Old Books Your Child Will Love Catalog compiled by librarian and mother.

Between 1-2 years old is the best time to read with my kids. Children at this age absorb so much information that books are attractive to them. And they’re building their language skills, which makes it a great time to read.

Best Board Books For 18 Month Old

When my boys were 1, they would sit quietly and listen to books longer than a 2 year old. This is a beautiful time to read. I cherish those precious moments when my baby started picking up books for herself and snuggling in my arms.

But not all books are created equal. Some may be too long or wordy for this age and others may be too simple. So I’ve created a list of the best books for this in-between stage. I hope your 1 year old loves these books as much as I do.

It’s about an immature giraffe who is teased as a terrible dancer until he finds his music.

This is such a fun book for 1 year olds. It has a quiet and slow rhythm scheme that makes it easy to remember, which is great for kids at this age. It is easy and fun for both adults and children. And, even though it’s long, the rhyme scheme makes it a quick read. In addition, the inclusion of many types of wild animals helps your child become familiar with the animals they can see at the zoo.

Books For Preparing Toddlers For New Babies

This message may be lost on your child at this age, but it is still a beautiful book that you will enjoy reading.

The story follows a family that sets out in search of a bear. After enough travel, they realize what a bad idea this adventure really is.

This classic book is perfect for 1-year-olds who love repetition and onomatopoeia (words they spell by sound – “Squelch Squerch”). This is a literary work that I find children of this age love. i read

One of Tom Fletcher’s interactive books (his most famous is A Monster in Your Book). In this book, your book has an egg. When you’re not careful, this baby turns into a dragon. You spend the rest of the book using your imagination to save the dragon.

Month Sleep Regression: When A Toddler Won’t Sleep

I like this book for 1 year olds because a monster in your book might be a little scary (it scared my son at 1), but the baby dragon is not scary at all. It’s good. Additionally, this book requires little movement with the book (cars, twists, jerks) and my son can already participate with it. It makes for an engaging and engaging read.

Dig the dinosaurs! Tells the story as a group of dinosaurs complete a construction project. Every step of the way.

This is a perfect book for 1 year old boys. Both my boys loved construction and dinosaurs at a young age. Dig the dinosaurs! They combine, with some calculations. On top of that, each page contains some structural sounds as part of the text. My one year old loves it all. Dinosaurs, trucks and sounds make this a great book for a 1-year-old boy.

This book uses rhyming text because it explains road work in a fun, rhyming way that can hold a child’s attention. Each page discusses a different machine and the road construction work it does.

Roadworks uses words to describe sounds (onomatopoeia) and has beautiful pictures featuring many trucks.

This book examines the work done on a construction site and all the tough machines that work hard to get the job done. Now that the site is closed, we say goodnight to each truck.

Both my boys got involved with trucks at 18 months. I bought the Goodnight, Goodnight construction site for my first born when he was 2. He liked it, but it always took a little longer to keep his attention. In 3, he did not pay attention. I met my second born who is the magic age of this book at 18 months. At 18 months, he sat quietly while I read. After a few readings, he started saying goodnight to any construction truck with the book and it became one of our favorite bedtime reads.

Eric Carle uses details to include a different animal seen on each page. Each animal is painted in bright colors.

Best Poetry Books For Kids In Grades Pre K Through 12

This is one of our baby favorites that continues to be a favorite for 1 year olds. Color recognition is an important skill at this age and animals are always marked. I like to add animal sounds to each animal as my child becomes familiar with the book. Finally, my son responds with an animal sound as he sees each animal. It has always been a favorite for young children.

Touch and Feel is a book that uses touch to identify different structures that are not related to rat dinosaurs. It’s a simple book and it may seem random, but kids love it.

It didn’t hurt my son much until he was close to 2 (about 20 months). He started asking me to read and I soon realized that he had memorized the entire book and understood various lessons.

In this elevator flap book, the narrator writes to a zoo and they send him a bunch of unsuitable animals before finally sending him the perfect one.

Gender Inclusive Books For Kids And Teens

A classic favorite in our family. My boys love to lift the flaps and react to the animals they find. As they get older, I name them the animals under the flap before I continue reading. They love to participate in this reading.

One of our favorites because it’s such a catchy tune. Each dinosaur is introduced by name and does a different dance. The dance words will stick in your and your little one’s heads and you’ll both remember them in no time.

My favorite Christmas book for 1 year olds. It’s a moo, ba, la la la Christmas game! And I personally think it’s better than the original. As with many of Sandra Boynton’s books, this one reads in one song. And it also includes animal and pet sounds, which little ones love.

Set to a song by Dick Halls, which makes it charming and a pleasure to read.

Activities For Toddlers (18 Months 4 Years)

This Halloween book follows a cat named Spock as he searches for a pumpkin (which he has never seen before). He mistakes several different objects for pumpkins, as other characters fill in more descriptive features as he continues to visit.

Where’s the Pumpkin is such a basic book that I wouldn’t dismiss it as fun, but my kids love it. It showed them what pumpkins are and what they love about them. And they love to repeat the last line, “I love pumpkins!”

Things is a simple, yet well-designed touch and feel book. It has beautiful rhyming text on each page and a silicone patch motor for felting. Especially boys love airplanes, trucks and other things from a young age.

This classic picture book is about a mother and her relationship with her son over the years. As she matures, we see her mother’s continued commitment to her child.

Children’s Books To Celebrate Women’s…

Love Always is a sweet book that holds a soft spot in many mothers’ hearts. So I was very happy when it became my 1 year old’s favorite. I rock him back and forth as described in the book and even though it’s long, he loves repeating the sentences and finding new things in the pictures.

Even if your child doesn’t watch TV, they will love listening to this song. This book includes finger puppets that you can dance around while singing. My little one loves finger puppet books and she loves the Baby Shark song (I think she heard it at daycare).

This is not a baby shark book story. It just goes through a baby shark song that has a picture of each shark family and finger dog. But it’s fun and your kid will love it.

It’s the story of a mouse who can’t get a giant polar bear out of his chair. It’s a terrible problem that he can’t solve. Written in poems that will stay with your 1 year old even though this is a long book.

Motivational Books: The 31 Most Inspiring Titles For 2024

My one year old loves animals and loves bears so he loves this book. Even if not yours, I think it’s a great addition to any 1-year-old’s reading schedule.

This is a good book about trains. As simple as that. All different types of trains. Follow along as they do their tasks.

Use action words and rhymes that your little one will love. If your child likes things that go, they will love learning about trains
