First you want to squeeze the binding with pliers to crush the binding, break it up – if the binding doesn’t come apart easily, you’ll need to use a gel remover. You will definitely need to use a gel remover if the bond on the hair is still tight/thick.
After breaking the keratin bond, you want to support the natural hair by holding it at the roots and gently separating the bond and extension.
After the bond and extensions are removed, you will need to brush out old hair that has fallen out and accumulated over the months you have had extensions – this is completely normal when removing extensions

In this video I show you how to remove keratin hair extensions using all Donna Bella hair and products! I share all my tips and tricks for removing these attachments, as well as my favorite products to use while doing so.
The removal process is quite simple, but very tedious. If your client has experienced some matting like I have, you should make sure to brush the client’s hair thoroughly. I love using the Donna Bella Extensions brush. This is also a great time to educate them on proper extension care. Remind them to brush their hair 2-3 times a day and pay special attention to the attachment area.
Starting from the bottom, I have to highlight the first part. When you’re doing extensions, you always want clean sections, and this is a great example of why. You can easily remove them with less trouble. With the help of my Donna Bella Keratin Bond Remover, I get to work.
Using Bond Remover, I spray on 3-4 Keralink extensions on the base. Then I take my Luke tool and use the slotted part of the tool to disrupt the keratin. When you feel the keratin has broken down enough, grab the natural hair and gently pull the extension out.

It usually takes me about 1-2 hours to remove if your client has a head full of Kera links.

As mentioned, you need to brush your extensions 2-3 times a day with the Donna Bella Extension brush. This brush has special bristles that help gently detangle the hair without disturbing the roots of the extensions. It has split bristles and is 100% boar hair.
It is important that you wash your hair one row at a time. This allows the scalp to be thoroughly cleaned and loose hair to be shed properly. It is also recommended to have a silk pillowcase to reduce friction against your hair.
When I sleep, I like to braid my hair at the root to ensure that the root of my hair doesn’t get tangled. It is also ideal for all clients to do so.
