Friends may have been responsible for adding 6 new colors to the brick style, but they were used by other projects, while Friends were responsible for using those colors in the project to keep them consistent. What’s new every year?
We’ve seen projects that bring new colors before. LEGO Clikits for example gave us a new color combination. But when the project was scrapped, so were most of the new colors, except for Bright Pink, which is still used today. The same goes for the many colors of LEGO Scala.
But ‘friendly colours’ are still being used 10 years later, in many projects. LEGO designers have many new options to come up with new color schemes, and the same goes for MOC designers. I could not imagine the world of LEGO without azures and lavender.
One of the best things about LEGO Friends is the little details. This means that many new features must be created. Friends started ‘birth bumps’; bank with multiple clauses.
