In an effort to be more environmentally conscious, many people have started saving plastic and glass bottles around to use as planters, decorations, or, if you’re like me, containers for homemade sauces and pickles. But the most frustrating part of recycling a bottle is dealing with that sticky residue after you peel off the label.

Of course, you can wash them in hot water, use butter to remove the meat and throw it in the dishwasher. Even after opening the bottles in the dishwasher, they are usually not completely sealed.

2. When the water is heating, fill the bottle with hot water from the machine. This will cause the glass to overheat at room temperature, making it easier to crack when you do the next step.
3. Throw the bottle in the sink. After that, carefully put on the socks, pour hot water in a glass bottle. If you don’t have a kettle, use a spatula or measuring cup.
4. The heat from the water should loosen the adhesive on the label, allowing you to remove the label carefully so as not to tear it. If you start to tear it, just start peeling from the other corner.
8. Using your fingers, apply the mixture to the sticky residue left on the bottle by the label.

9. Allow the mixture to set for five minutes. If the label is too stubborn, leave it longer.
11. After all the glue is removed, rinse the bottle with water and dish soap to remove excess oil.
Not all plastic bottles can handle boiling water, and removing the sticky stuff from them is usually a little easier. So if you want to get the sticky stuff out of the plastic bottle, just start by removing the label and continue to step 4 above. Okay now for another confession. Most times when I get a new glass bottle or jar, I’m too lazy to remove the label. I tried to rub it with a knife like an animal. I tried to wet it but nothing worked and I had no time or patience.
I recently faced the consequences of my laziness (or lack of time and energy) when I decided to update the pantry (which was largely abandoned). In fact, I don’t even have a jar without a label. Well, some don’t have labels, just stick to them (I think I’m done).
Potion Bottle Labels
So I did what I should have done a long time ago. I wet the jars and bottles and removed the labels. When I tell you that I can’t do it and it doesn’t take more than an hour, I’m not lying at all.
Now look at what I went through that time to remove the labels from my glass jars and bottles.
Step 1: Pour water into a large bowl and soak the jars and bottles for about 20-30 minutes.
After that, the water will cool, but if it doesn’t – add a little cold water to remove the glass jar.

Some labels will be easy to remove completely after this step, others may be sticky and a little hard.
Step 2: If the label does not come off in the first step, use thick rubber gloves to remove the label.
Step 3: Now if that doesn’t work and you end up with a sticky mess on your hands or gloves, use nail polish to remove the glue. I put (a lot) of nail polish on the make-up pad and mix it until there is no glue on the glass.
Step 4. Wash the jars and bottles thoroughly. I put my dish in the dishwasher with our other dishes and it came out great!

How To Remove Sticker Residue From Glass, Ceramic, And Metal Surfaces
This is what my bottle looked like before using citric acid to erase the printed ink on the back. Some removal continued since I used citric acid to remove the front tag and logo.
In a small stainless steel bowl dissolve 1 teaspoon of citric acid in 2 tablespoons of very hot water. Mix in enough flour to make a thick paste.
After the dough is dry and a little dry, scrape or clean the dough on the glass surface. Then wipe off the printed ink with a damp paper towel or microfiber cloth. The ink should disappear immediately and completely within one minute of wiping.
