A child’s first watch is a milestone, but like other gadgets, technology now plays a role. Love it or hate it, if you’re a smartwatch wearer, you’ve probably noticed that kids are instantly drawn to it, whether it’s turning on the lights or counting your steps.

But smartwatches aren’t just for adults, all smartwatches are made with young people in mind. Many of these kids’ smartwatches offer the same benefits as adults – activity tracking, goal setting, and heart rate monitoring. Some go even further and are like a cell phone, with GPS tracking, voice calls, and some even allow you to make video calls.

Premium smartwatches that offer GPS tracking and communication options can be a great incentive for parents. If you are looking for a product that can offer these features, such as a simplified version of the mobile phone, parents should remember that you will need to get a SIM card, which may have additional monthly costs. It often designs “telephone functionality”, this is interesting if you are not ready to buy a cell phone for your children and want to keep in touch with them safely.

Smartwatches aren’t just about telling the time, and while our generation may not like keeping time, many parents are also opting for a wearable technology device to encourage and monitor movement.

Most of our children participate in some form of sport, and 90 percent of children between the ages of five and 16 participate in this sport. By wearing the watch, they can monitor their steps, with advanced heart rate monitoring options.

Finally, parents should think about what they want their kids to get from their smartwatch, whether it’s a fitness tracker, a small cell phone, or an active watch. Here we have collected the best ones on the market.

Kids Game Smart Watch

With the help of children aged four, six and 13, we selected smart watches for children for two weeks. In our tests, we looked at the range of smartwatch features on offer, particularly how many tracking metrics there were, and how easy it was for kids to use. all ages can use it.

Battery and screen quality and size were considered, but we also wanted the watch to be comfortable for everyday wear on small hands. Naturally, we wanted fun designs as well as functionality for watches that my kids would be proud to wear.

Garmin is one of the main contenders in the smartwatch space, so expectations were high when testing its latest release: the Vivofit jr.3.

An Apple Watch For Your 5 Year Old? More Parents Say Yes.

At first glance, we were impressed by how small it was compared to other watches we reviewed; Both our four-year-old and six-year-old tried it on for size, and it fit perfectly in their hands like a watch. They both commented on how comfortable the silicone strap was and loved the leopard print and peach color.

Setup was a breeze, download the free Garmin Jnr app, and create a profile (or profile, if you have more than one device). In the app, you can create a clock face, choose an avatar, choose a step icon, and show the time to sleep and the time to wake up (to provide accurate sleep information). You can also set alarms, change daily step goals and see how active your child is with the motion sensor, and set goals like feeding the dog. We want you to be able to do your own homework too. By completing homework, children will receive a coin (parents decide how much) and parents can choose how children can spend it – there are predefined options first such as “to swim” or “to eat”.

Kids will also be rewarded for being active, with 60 minutes of daily activities unlocking “steps” – an educational yet fun travel story where kids can play addictive games and quizzes. This trait is a little advanced for a baby, but our six-year-old is starting to understand the reward system.

Unlike other watches, the battery is not replaceable, instead it is powered by a CR2025 battery that lasts for a year. These kids have to keep charging, and we were also happy to know that the fitness tracker is easy to swim in so you don’t have to take it off. The Vivofit jr.3 delivers on all fronts and feels like the refined product you’ve come to expect from Garmin.

Should I Get An Apple Watch For My Kids?

The first Moochies mobile watch launched in Australia in 2016, and hit UK turf last year. Interestingly, it is called a “phone icon” and not a smartwatch, but in fact it is a basic wearable phone for children, which provides a safe way to communicate with our children, and it is right where we are.

You will need to follow the steps to set up and download the app to pair your phone with the child’s watch, but we have to say it is very easy, with a video that walks you through the process. Unlike its direct competitors, Moochies come with an attached SIM card, which means you don’t have to do anything extra. You will need to insert your sim and choose from a dual sim package (£10 or £15 per month).

With GPS tracking, you will always know where your child is using the Moochies app, while voice and video calls allow you to stay in touch with your child, or vice versa. There’s also the ability to “chat” by sending a voice message or an emoji, which we found very useful when testing with a test channel.

It also has a camera, pedometer and alarm functions. By giving us the basic watch functions, Moochies has kept this watch simple. Parents can also set the teaching mode, so the use of the clock is reduced. We’ve always praised this watch for its easy-to-use touch screen. Our teenager was not impressed with its design, but he liked the simple white colors.

Of all the small watches we’ve tested, the Spacetalk 4G Adventurer feels the most grown-up with its sporty styling. It’s also quite advanced in terms of features, but at around £200, we’d expect that.

The latest from Australian tech company Spacetalk is a virtual reality wearable for kids, created hand-in-hand with games, social media and endless gadgets. An excellent version of Spacetalk’s award-winning children’s app, there’s plenty to talk about.

The screen was one of the best we’ve tested, and not only is it very responsive, but the OLED display means HD video calls are crystal clear day and night, too clear to the mobile user thanks to the 5MP camera. For a fitness tracker, it also excels (it got a thumbs up from our sports reviewer), heart rate reading, step counting, and distance tracking. Perfect for volleyball (coach permitting).

A new feature, and something we don’t see in other products, is a health feature where you can refresh your mood, whether it’s the weather or your laugh. Or parents could ask for an upgrade, that was a thoughtful addition.

Apple Extends The Apple Watch Experience To The Entire Family

All was not smooth sailing. Unfortunately, we found the charging process disappointing. The watch is sitting on the charging bed, but it is very sensitive, so only the slightest position changes it, which means that we are often woken up by an uncharged watch.

Like the phone, the Adventurer requires a SIM card with calls, SMS and data and will work on all 3G and 4G networks in the UK. Note that you need to subscribe to the Spacetalk app ($3.99 per month) to use the app fully, as the app allows you to chat, update space, send messages and share photos.

This watch would be good for upper elementary school kids, but it was too advanced for our six-year-old, and not easy enough for our teenager.

Unfortunately, this watch is currently out of stock and we will let you know if we are able to restock it.

Benefits Of Smart Watch For Kids

Fossil is known for offering great watches, and while the Gen 6 Health Edition Hybrid Smartwatch isn’t aimed at kids, we’ve found it to work very well for young adults. First of all, he couldn’t wait to wear it, because of its light nature and soft silicone fabric (there are also many color options), he found that he was comfortable – the fabric it can be tightened for small hands.

Unlike other watches we’ve tested, the version 6 uses an e-ink screen that Kindle users will recognize. It works great during the day, and it’s our favorite for kids
