Part Time Work For Moms At Home

Part Time Work For Moms At Home

Part Time Work For Moms At Home – Since returning to work from maternity leave after the birth of my son, I have been working part-time. I work in the office a few days a week and from home the rest of the week. This schedule worked perfectly until my son started walking…now when I’m working at home and my son sees me working on my laptop he runs and tries every key click on the one he reached (usually the delete key !) . It may be a few times before I stop him. Just a few months ago I was able to lay him down on my floor in front of me while I was working and he was happily laying on his back playing with his toys. Now the best times for me to do this are before he wakes up in the morning, when he sleeps and after he goes to sleep, which leaves very little time for me to take care of myself and the housework, but with the help of my husband we find out how to do it it is necessary to work.

We don’t live near our families, so we don’t have the luxury of relying on family to help with lunch or take care of our son so we can have a night out or run quick errands. My husband and I rely on each other and I have found two wonderful caregivers who are trustworthy and reliable. On the days I go into the office, they watch my son, and on rare occasions my husband and I go out for a date night.

To make the most of my free time, I go to Baby Boot Camp so I can combine good exercise with meeting other moms and play days for my son. I like to make a big meal every Sunday and Wednesday night that can last at least two more days during the week as leftovers, which cuts down on the number of nights I spend in the kitchen. We hire a cleaner to keep the house clean (It was a big and stressful decision for us because of the cost and the trust of someone coming into our house. But now I am thankful that we got reliable cleaners, because at that time I finished work or played with my son). My husband and I share most of the household chores equally (he does the finances and house/yard maintenance, I do the cooking, laundry and laundry/organization). My hobbies are mostly put aside now, and a good date night with my husband usually involves us sitting on the couch together watching HGTV.

Part Time Weekend Jobs You Can Do From Home (that Actually Work)

Sometimes I wonder if a part-time job is worth it: I try to be a stay-at-home mom as well as an engineer, but I feel like I might be falling short of both. I worry that my son is getting less attention than he deserves and that my career is now on a plateau. I called my husband from home and cried because I stress that I have a lot of work and don’t have time to do my job and look after our son who now needs my constant attention. But it doesn’t happen every day or even every week. And the days when this schedule works, my life becomes a dream come true.

I’ve had difficult days where I’ve had moments where I tell myself I have to choose: work full time or stay at home, but I can’t choose! I don’t want to give up either and hope to continue this off schedule as long as possible. I need a very busy week to myself. The babysitter watches my son at home.

I think Darius Rucker said it best in his song, When he sings beautifully, “this phase will pass, so hold on baby, it won’t last long” (You can watch the video below, but a box has tissues – I cry every time I hear this song).

I know that in a few years my son will be in school and I will return to work. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work part-time so that I can be with my son as much as possible without giving up my career, and I try to work as long as I can. My son smiles at me with his beautiful chubby cheeks and appreciates every long, restless day and night.
