This is how we stumbled upon something that works. When waterproofing your labels, apply extra Crystal Clear Gorilla Tape to the paper labels and stick them to your spice bottles. We found that the tape removed any adhesive residue while holding the sticker in the correct position.
So we grabbed a large piece of tape and placed it directly on top of the covered bottle and were able to remove almost all of the adhesive.
Here’s a photo of the tape I applied to the first bottle: You’ll see a white film stuck to the bottle, which is label adhesive that won’t go away even if you try other methods.

Literally, all you have to do is pour hand sanitizer onto a paper tag, swirl it around, and wipe the tag off with your fingernail after a few seconds.
If it gets stuck, you’ll need to repeat the process or use a plastic, credit card, or straight edge like a razor to remove any remaining residue. However, in most cases it will be erased correctly on the first try!

The general consensus is that this particular “hack” works because of the rubbing alcohol in hand sanitizer. Come to think of it, I got into the habit of making hand sanitizer.
I think the alcohol will help saturate the gel instead of washing it off directly, which will eventually loosen the adhesive paper.
In general, we believe hand sanitizers work best on paper labels and stickers. And you don’t even need to remove it before handling the adhesive. Drop the hand sanitizer directly onto the paper label and scrape it off.
If you have thick plastic labels (white labels in the case above), we recommend removing them first (see below) and then using hand sanitizer to remove any remaining adhesive.
What Are Some Ways To Remove Labels From Plastic Jars?
In my personal experience, using hand sanitizer removes stickers and labels from all plastic (including laminate tables) and glass (including candle bottles, condiment bottles, glass cleaner bottles, windows, etc.). That said, it is thought to work on hard, non-porous surfaces such as metal, granite, marble, clay, tile, painted walls/doors, etc.
If you have thick plastic coated labels, hand sanitizer may not penetrate the surface enough to loosen the adhesive.
Use direct heat with a hair dryer for only 1 to 2 minutes. This will soften the adhesive and make it easier to remove the label.
In most cases, the entire label comes out straight without tearing and leaves no residue. If necessary, use hand sanitizer to remove any remaining adhesive!
Diy Sticker Remover: 10+ Non Toxic Methods
Have you ever used “permanent” adhesive stickers (e.g. hooks, hangers, bolts, hard command strips, etc.) to stick something to a wall, door, or tile? This hair dryer method works for these things too!
Do not pull the hook. This is because permanent stickers may peel off the paint. Instead, use a hot hair dryer to apply glue… Pretty… Heat it up.
In most cases, you will cut off the hook without stripping the paint, but permanent residue may be left behind.
Go ahead and heat the adhesive area, clean it as much as you can, and finish with a hand scrub to completely remove that “permanent” sticky adhesive!
Easily Remove Labels From Plastic
If you are looking for ways to remove glue, you can find all similar types of hacks. I personally haven’t tried any of the methods listed below, but if hand sanitizer doesn’t work for the sticky residue, try one of these: Dip a cotton swab, paper towel, or clean cloth into one of the following and dab it all over the sticker or adhesive.
There is no immersion. Don’t rub. No greasy, bulky, expensive Goo Gone. I always have hand sanitizer on hand. The price is very cheap, the surface is clean and it smells good. I use hand sanitizer to remove stickers and labels from all kinds of places (e.g. tables, wrappers, candle jars, containers, plastic boxes, curtain rods, shelf brackets, etc!), and when it looks like I’m not done yet, I part ways.
