Father walked into the kitchen, followed by the smell of a cool autumn afternoon. He put the grocery bags on the road, and Mom started to take them down. “Yum,” he said, “this will be good for dinner.”

The sister checked the bags in the hope of receiving special treatment. But the brother stood still like a stone, staring at his father. “Um, Dad…why is your jacket moving like that?”

“I heard him cry,” said the sister with a sleepy smile. “That’s why I took him out of the box to do a bad dance. And I just dreamed about his name,” she said.

“Well, I had a dream yesterday. In my dream, I heard Daddy say that the puppy had a ‘boo-boo’ on the floor. Don’t you see? That’s his name!” he said looking back and looking at their faces. “It’s Boo-Boo!”

Tears fell from Rosie’s red eyes. She tried to ignore him, as she tiptoed lightly into the family room. Mama fox heard Rosie and headed for the entrance.
