A globe is a fantastic gift that is not a toy for young students. Grandma gave this to my son when he was 5 and we take it out often – it’s a great piece for his room.
If you’re not ready for the whole world, try “Hugg-A-Planet.” It is the stuffed animal of the Earth. It’s amazing.
This. microscope. Children have trouble with traditional microscopes that see through a small eyepiece. This removes that variable AND everyone can see everything at once.
They are the sweetest, most amazing – just a great little place for big kids to grow up. They can relax, grab a book, relax, etc. all in the comfort of their chavm.

A fantastic choice for kids who are interested in playing the piano but don’t have access to the full game. This is my 7 year old. Got it for my birthday from my grandparents (who were musicians in college), it has a really nice tone and is perfect as an “intro to piano” gift.
My kids love their Fitbits because they love the clocks and numbers on how many steps they take each day. There is a math element that is really fun. AND IT’S DONE.
We gave this to my son for Christmas 2020 and it was the most fun for the whole family. We’re not much of a musician, but this one comes with notes to follow.
It’s been special over the years: I gave it to my daughter two Christmases ago and it’s still in use. Also the set we bought for her best friend: she still uses it after 2 years. This is a great set for kids and they love how it is organized and packaged.

We got it for my then 8 year old, but my then 4 year old got the most. He LOVES to see the world up close. This is a great way to introduce microscopes at any age.

My kids love their Kindles. They were able to discover new books that they would never have seen on a library shelf. It also travels very well.
These were great for us. My kids use them to listen to audiobooks on their Kindle devices or connect via Bluetooth to other devices.
Best non-toy gift I’ve given in a year. Kids LOVE IT. They are magical, just like in the 70s. There are tons of colors and styles and they’re often sold at your local toy store (that’s where we get them).

Whittling has taken my kids and their friends by storm this year. From the age of 6 onwards, trimming is in fashion. Of course, haircuts require a lot of control and care, so it depends on you whether it will suit your child.
I gave my 7 year old this watch for his birthday and he loved it. It helps children learn to read analog clocks, a necessary but often forgotten skill. It really helped him and he loved it. Many colors available.

CDs allow children to explore. This generation of Google-it or Ask Siri (god, I sound old…) kids are sorely lacking in random learning and “stumbling” discoveries.

They don’t look like much, but this indoor/outdoor product is great for kids. After seeing how much my “Floor is Lava” loving kids loved it at the museum, I bought a set for my daughter’s birthday, and two years later it’s still one of the most used outdoor toys for all kids.
What an old school, simple, sweet delight this was. My eight-year-old has been learning to press flowers all year. It requires patience and a steady hand, but will appeal to careful children. It was a fun project.
I’m a HUGE fan of kids having the right tools to use as they develop their skills. Will they stick a finger in? Definitely. But they will figure it out, as we will. My kids and their friends (BOYS AND GIRLS) have loved this set since they were 4 (but you do what’s best for your family).
