Camping can be very relaxing (who doesn’t love sitting on a camp chair by the fire??). You need a reason to get up and explore. Scavenger hunts really have a purpose, so I love being able to walk around and help the kids find whatever they find.

Road Trip Scavenger Hunt: Free Printable Lists For Kids

There are many different ways to treasure hunt. But here is the important point. There are ways for all ages to get involved.

When choosing different items for your treasure hunt, it’s important to make sure you have at least two “gifts”. I think this will help the kids gain confidence in finding difficult camping gear.

Adult supervision may be required if young children are also participating. When young, poison ivy looks like other weeds. =P.

For added fun, I like to make camping wreaths before starting camp or using things that you can easily find.

Depending on where you are, you may or may not actually “save” everything you see (without leaving it behind!). However, this is a fun activity that encourages everyone to explore and explore. If you’ve read the book, you’ll love this photo-based treasure hunt. I intentionally left out the words so the kids could use their creativity to figure it all out. I also made a black and white image to allow for color choices and creativity.

My favorite part of this was when the kids saw the “Bear Aware” sign on campus and said it was important because it had a picture of a bear on it. Don’t worry, we agree! =P.
