The San Diego County Coroner has identified the bicyclist killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon east of Ramona.

X Games star Pat Casey died at Slayground Motocross Park, a private motocross track near Sutherland Dam Road. The 29-year-old driver missed the landing and the motorcycle appeared to land on top of him, CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said Tuesday.
Witnesses at the facility, who reported the accident around 3:00 p.m., performed CPR on Casey until they were rescued by EMS personnel, who continued CPR until approximately 3:40 p.m. when he was pronounced dead, Cal Fire San Diego spokesman Brent Pascua said. Pascua told NBC 7 on Wednesday that it took crews a “normal amount of time” to get to the scene — less than 15 minutes, adding that dispatchers were talking to bystanders using CPR until first responders arrived.

The facility is privately owned by Encinitas motocross racer Axell Hodges and is regularly used for motocross training as well as some X Games events, according to the X Games website.

Because the crash occurred on private property, the crash and related death are being investigated by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Casey, a multiple X Games medalist, grew up in Yorba Linda, Calif., and pioneered a variety of tricks, according to a profile on the Vans “Off the Wall” team’s website, including the “decade double” and “decade backflip.”
The knight is survived by his wife, Chase, and their two young children. Reached for comment by NBC 7 on Wednesday, she said, “He is our everything. He is the best at everything he does and brings everyone so much happiness. The most perfect man, my soulmate.”
