We’re big fans of Halloween here! For years, I have handmade clothes for my children, making them whatever they want them to be by using their ability to thrift and sew.
This year is no different from tradition. In early October, my 10-year-old son came to me and said he wanted to be different for Halloween.
He was tired of superheroes and didn’t want to be too gory, so we started looking for some edgy costumes.
After doing a little research, we came across the idea of a headless dress. It was risky and difficult, but we took on the project.

Start by collecting your equipment. We found a jacket and gloves at a local thrift store for just $10. We bought a large jar full of cheese for $5 at Walmart.

Open the jacket, open it on the ground. Have your child put them in the bag, and tighten them.
Have the child lie on top of the open jacket with the bag on, and place it where the head comes out of the jacket. Ours is on the second or third button down, where the arm rests automatically.
Have your child leave the bag while lying on the floor, and leave it in place. We marked the inside of the jacket with a sharpie marker while in the bag, just in case
